Our Album Launch, 'The Lockdown Sessions'
Updated: Sep 13
Welcome to the Glas Quartet blog! We look forward to writing all of our news and upcoming events here as well as tips for choosing the best soundtrack for your weddings, events or concert programmes. Our big news is that on the 14th September 2020 we will be launching our Glas Quartet album, 'The Lockdown Sessions'. It features covers of popular favourites including Picture This’ “Take my Hand”, Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Year’s” (total tear-jerker..) and much-loved traditional Irish songs such as “Grace”. We are so thankful to the (absolutely stunning!?!) Tankardstown House for allowing us to use the beautiful orangery to record and film. We were joined by two very good friends on the day - the very talented Mark Cahill from MPC Productions who was our sound engineer and our friend and fellow musician, Ates Kirkan who did our filming and editing.
It feels great to be playing with these wonderful musicians. In these uncertain times where it sometimes feels like our musical life will never thrive like it once did, we are determined to bring live music back, not only for our audiences but for our own well-being.
But where will we rehearse that we can socially distance and still reach an audience? We had an idea to bring our rehearsals into the public eye and share all these warm and fuzzy feelings we are having performing together. SO, we decided to have open rehearsals in our local town, sunny Dundalk, in a disused shopfront window. It’s been a great way to reverberate positive vibes in the town and to bring hope and joy to our friends and neighbours in Dundalk.
So you can see us rehearsing in the window of Cumiskey’s on Clanbrassil St on Thursday 10th, 17th , and 24th September from 9.30 – 12pm. Come along and wave and if you ask us for a request, we might just play it for you. Go on – ask for Iron Maiden, because we have it ;)
The Lockdown Sessions album will be available to buy and stream on all online distributers including Spotify and Apple Music from Monday 14th September.
